Reproduction
I thought it would be both interesting and useful to post a page on the reproductive cycle of these frogs. I'm currently raising my first batch of tadpoles and I have been doing a ton of research on their breeding habits as well as how to care for the little ones. Below I have put together a summary of what I've learned.
Sexing Frogs
"How do you tell the males & females apart?" is one of the most frequently asked questions by those new to these frogs. The most apparent way to tell the gender of these frogs is by size. At maturity, males are quite a bit smaller than females. Females have a small bump between their legs, this is where eggs are dispersed. They are often rounder on the sides than males. Males have a small gland that is visible near their "armpit" on each side, it is white or pink in color.
Below is a photo of Markus, the pink glands in his "armpits" are visible.
